We often hear about "𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧" - that goal where children can handle big emotions and stress on their own. But have you ever noticed that telling a child to "𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧" rarely works when they’re already in the thick of a meltdown?

That’s because they need 𝐂𝐨-𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 first!


Think of it like a bridge:
